Zachariah Boreman-decorated Teacups and Saucers, circa 1785

$875.00

Rarely do you find such a well-documented piece of porcelain. Not only can you date the form and pattern to a very specific period of Derby production, both the landscape painter (Zachariah Boreman) and the gilder (William Longdon) can be identified through the old Derby pattern books.

Boreman is considered one of the finest porcelain painters of his generation, with impressionistic landscapes executed in minute detail. His works often feature figures walking by the water’s edge, and hazy golden skies that give the scenes an ethereal touch. Hailing originally from the Chelsea factory, he joined Derby under William Duesbury in 1783, and painted there for a good portion of his career.

Fabulous little pair of teacups and saucers, dating to approximately 1785 based on the artists and mark to base. Excellent condition. Honestly don’t really want to sell them, and would prefer they go to a collector.

English porcelain with enamel decoration of landscapes and intricate gilt border. Duesbury-period Derby factory.
