The shell-shaped porcelain serving dish with a named landscape scene ‘Tunbridge Castle, Kent’ surrounded by gilt vermicelli decoration. Unusually, scenes on this service depict ruins or abandoned sites in the British Isles. For the shell dish, our view is of the old outer walls of the 13th-century castle erected by the de Clare family, Earls of Hertford. 

Excellent condition. Script name of scene, printed and impressed factory marks on reverse. Barr, Flight, and Barr Worcester, England, 1804-1813
